Rockwell agreed with thereader of the paper that this currentwould not relieve pain when it was dueto a neuritis or any acute or subacuteinflammatory condition. Dr. Gr. R. Massey and Dr. If. P. Prattcommended the apparatus and said theywould expect very good results from it. use by others of static electricity. Theease was evidently of toxic and centralorigin and deeply seated. The treatmentwhich he had adopted with complete suc-cess was as follows: A kathode of clay, three by four inches^ was applied to thesolar plexus, while the anode was appliedby the Labile method to the cervical andupper dorsal region.-, and occasionally tothe left arm. The strength of the currentwas from 20 to GO ma., and the seances

FELLOWS OF THE ELECTRO-THERAPEUTIC ASSOCIATION.Taken Sept. 4, 1902. by Dr. Willis F. Spring. -Current Differentiation Illustrated by aCase of Peripheral Neuritis Due toParenchymatous Degeneration ofthe Cord. Dr. A. D. Eockwell of Xcw York citywas the author of this paper. The casewas presented: (1) because it illustrateda somewhat unusual form of neuritis; (2)as an excellent example of the necessityfor careful differentiation, and (3) becauseof the prompt relief afforded after thefailure of all other methods, including the were of ten minutes duration and wererepeated daily. Dr. B rower, Dr. Eaton and Dr. Masseyreferred to the tendency to neglect galvanictreatment on account of the greaterconvenience of static electricity. Dr. F. B. Bishop placed the galvanicbattery at the head of electro-therapeuticalapparatus. Localized pain was often re-lieved by galvanism. Dr. J. D. Gibson said it was exceedinglvdifficult to reach deep pains in the dorsalre.oions by the static current. 1179 THE AM
