to the vases and fountains adorned withflowers in relief, occasionally manufactured; they are all inexecrable taste. After the year 1790 the making of paintedfaience at La Kochelle came finally to an end. Several factories of a still inferior order had existed, or werein existence, in the province. One may mention the following :Saintes, established by L. Sazerac in 1731—three other manufac-tories were at work in the town at a later date; La Chapelle-des-Pots, long celebrated for its glazed pottery, where DanielBodin started some faience-works in 1760.
