Unemployment in Cleveland rises. Washington, D.C., Jan. 17. Mayor Harold H. Burton of Cleveland, today told the Senate unemployment committee that unemployment in his city has risen from 89,1000 last October 15 to 175,000 on January 6 of this year. He submitted to the committee a three-point program for encouraging private employment, extending WPA and establishing state and local security systems for the permanent unemployed, 1/17/38
