Daniel Webb, a wheeled vehicle mechanic with the Independence, Kan.-based 1011th Quartermaster Company, attached to the Eufaula, Ala.-based 1103rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, cleans pieces of equipment that have been sorted and will be returned to the U.S. military inventory during operations at the Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan retrosort yard Jan. 21. Soldiers, who work at the retrosort yard as part of the Fort Bragg, N.C.-based 82nd Sustainment Brigade-U.S. Central Command Materiel Recovery Element, play a major role in materiel reduction, saving millions of dollars in recovered equipment, as U.S. forces prepare to eventually redeploy from Afghanistan.
