TWIN JCITYRAPID TRANSIT COMPANY special platform, shown above the cross section, in the draw-ing, having a hatch with a stairway, and so arranged as to pro-vide a passage from the stairs to either runway. The upper structure consists of a frame work of i-in.gas pipe bolted to a 2>4-in. x 5-in. sill, which rests on specialfittings built permanently into the roof, providing an openingdown through the plate of the car framing, as shown in roofsection drawing. The sill is held by bolts passing down throughthis casting and bolted below. The canopy frame work is arched 2 ins., and at the ridge run-ning from front to rear are two 6-in. planks, the lower one cut-ting in between the piping of the frame and the upper con-tinuous. Toward the rear, a short plank, about 10 ft. long, isadded on each side for supporting the trolley base. On theunder side of this ridge plank is mounted the signal bell andlighting equipment.
