The Castellanitreatment was given to her by DoctorGuerrero until she left the hospital. I sawthe case again on February 25, 1917. Theexternal lesions were healed, but she still 432 Bone and Joint Lesions of Yaws complained of pains in the bones. She hadcontinued to take the Castellani treat-ment rather irregularl3^ She was inducedto take her medicine as prescribed untilMarch 2, when it was learned that sherefused to continue with the treatment.Nevertheless she readily submitted to Case IX.—R. F., Filipino, sixteen yearsold. The primary lesion occurred on theright knee in September, 1911. The secon-dary eruption appeared one month laterand gradually disappeared without treat-ment. Theroentgen ray plates taken on the sameday showed no changes from those taken inFebruary at the hospital. There was atotal of 113 lesions. By the end of thesecond week, after this injection, thepatient was entirely relieved of pain. InApril the roentgen ray plate showed avery definite regeneration of the bone atthe sites of the lesions. By the early partof July only a few places could be recog-nized where the lesions liad existed.
