Declaration of the German Republic, 9 November 1918. A crowd gathered outside the Reichstag or German parliament building in Berlin. The crowd is predominantly male with a large percentage of military, but there are some women. According to the original caption they are listening to the declaration of Germany as a republic.

Philipp Scheidemann (1865-1939) proclaimed the German Republic on 9 November 1918 and forced the abdication of the Kaiser Wilhelm II (1859-1941).
