JERUSALEM (Mar. 08, 2014) Sailors attached to the amphibious transport dock ship USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19) and Marines assigned to the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (22nd MEU) have items blessed at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre as part of a tour of Jerusalem sponsored by the ship's Morale, Welfare and Recreation department during a scheduled port visit. Mesa Verde Sailors and 22nd MEU Marines are deployed supporting maritime security operations, providing crisis response capability, increasing theater security cooperation and providing a forward naval presence in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility.
