sing the apparatus shown in Fig. 61 and placingit under a proper fume-conduction hood, one measures into a Kjeldahlflask of 800 c.c. capacity, 5 c.c. of urine; 10 c.c. of concentrated sulphuricacid and 1 gram of copper sulphate. Ratio to body weight. Urea. Notpracticable. Avoid fumes. 200 MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS Oxidationprocesses. Conversioninto ammoniumsulphate. Preventbumping. Liberateammonia. Distil andrecombineammonia. Ammoniabound byacid. Titrate tomeasureamountcombined. Second.—Heat over low flame until white fumes indicate the giving off ofsulphuric acid. Third.—Add 5 grams of potassium sulphate and, shaking carefully fromtime to time, boil for from thirty to forty minutes or until the yellow colorhas entirely given place to bluish green. Fourth.—Set aside to cool. Fifth.—Add distilled water sufficient to make total quantity of liquid inflask about 250 c.c. Sixth.—Add a few bits of zinc, pumice stone or a little talcum powder toprevent bumping during the succeeding stages.

Eighth.—Shake; connect by means of a Fresenius bulb with a Liebigcondenser.
