Letter from Louis Alexis Chamerovzow, [London, England], to John Bishop Estlin, 1855 Feb[ruary] 14

Louis Alexis Chamerovzow writes to John Bishop Estlin in regards to his desire to learn of the authority for Parker Pillsbury's statement that 9,000 or 19,000 slaves are imported annually into the southern states. He thinks it best to let the question of George Thompson's speech "settle itself." Chamerovzow explains his belief in the lack of taste in Parker Pillsbury's speech and says, "it is question of truth, not of taste. I do not find fault with him for telling truth, in his own way, & of any day of persons who are in error, but I am under the impression that..truth itself may be so highly coloured by parties or other feeling."
