Thus was terminated one of the most remarkableescapes from capture ever recorded. None otherthan men of very superior genius could have suc-ceeded. As it is, the exploit is one of marvelousadroitness, one which cannot fail to excite ouradmiration. CHAPTER XL. A VISIT TO CARMEN.—Frank and Jesse go intoMexico—Tliey rest at Carmen, in Chihuahua—Thesilver conducta—They join the Mexican party—Cap-ture of the treasure bags of the Mexicans.
