Summary
Along with the lesser roadrunner (G. velox), it is one of only two species in the roadrunner genus, Geococcyx. The name 'geococcyx' is Latin for 'earth-cuckoo' but you may also know this bird by the name chaparral cock, ground cuckoo or even snake-killer.
