Frederick William (Fred) Elwell was born in Beverley, East Yorkshire on the 29th June 1870. He was a painter in oils of portraits, interiors and figurative subjects. Elwell exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1894 and the Royal Academy, where he became a member in 1938.
