Adm. Gary Roughead assumed command from Adm. John B. Nathman during the ceremony. CFFC is responsible for organizing, manning, training, and equipping Naval forces for assignment to combatant commanders, deterring, detecting, and defending against homeland maritime threat as well as articulate fleet warfighting and readiness requirements to the Chief of Naval Operations.
