PACIFIC OCEAN (Sep. 02, 2008) Aviation Ordnanceman 1st Class Vern Lababit, assigned to the "Gauntlets" of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 136, inspects the engine cabin of an EA-6B Prowler aboard the aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) during a scheduled preventive maintenance cycle before the engine is re-installed. George Washington is sailing off the coast of Southern California where the crew is conducting training evolutions with Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5. George Washington departed San Diego Aug. 21, en route to Yokosuka, Japan, where the ship will replace USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) as the U.S. Navy's only forward-deployed aircraft carrier.
