reatest value. The procedurethus far found of. value may be summarized as follows:The patient lies upon his back with only a thin supportunder his head. The hands are crossed over the abdo-men so as to widen the space as much as possible be-tween the scapulae. An 8x10 plate properly protectedis placed underneath the neck so that the region of theapices may correspond to the plate. The diaphragmis moved as close to the neck as possible with the loweredge touching the lower surface of the chin. The angleof inclination will be adjusted so that the light axis isslightly oblique to the.:plate. The angle should bestudied with reference to the shape and contour of eachchest to be investigated. The best plates are those inwhich the shadow of the clavicles falls in the lower partof the third intercostal space arid does not superimposeat all on the first and second intercostal spaces. To at-tain such plates each case must be individually studiedand the diaphragm adjusted in a careful manner. If
