s, with, where possible, a powerful instrument, such as a high-tension rectifier, a Snook machine, or a powerful coil outfitfitted with three breaks (mercury with gas dielectric, triple Wehnelt, and, ifpossible, a single-impulse switch). With a high-tension rectifier apparatusone can add a single-impulse switch. (6) A second outfit of less capacity is useful as a stand-by in case of abreak-dowTi. This is an important point, because in a large institutionwork must go on constantly. (c) Overhead high-tension cables, properly insulated, should be stretchedfrom one end of the room to the other. (d) A change-over switch is useful when two installations are used, and another switch for quickly connecting to various pieces of apparatus. This may also be accompanied by adjustable tube leads, running on wheelsalong the high-tension cables. The plan shown on page 119 illustrates thebest arrangement of apparatus when one room only is available. Thevarious pieces of apparatus are marked on the plan.

It should have in close proximity to it a waiting-room, one or moredressing-rooms, and a preparation-room where patients may be anaesthetisedor an opaque enema administered prior to taking the patient to the radio-graphic room. This room should have an adequate supply of hot and coldwater and other co
