A certain patient with motor apraxia, on being given a cigaretteholder and cigarette, recognized the objects, said they were for smoking,but on being told to put them together was unable to make the correctmovements, and finally gave up. Another patient was given a candleand a match-box. She took out a match, made rubbing movementswith it in the air above the candle, and then reinserted it in the box. Liepmanns celebrated case was able to do things with his left hand,but failed entirelv with his right.
