Eine konsolidierte B-24D Liberator (links), Boeing B-29 Superfortress (im Hintergrund) und Lockheed RA-29 Hudson (im Vordergrund) parkten im Flugforschungsgebäude des National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) Aircraft Engine Research Laboratory in Cleveland, Ohio. Im Hintergrund sind eine P-47G Thunderbolt und eine P-63A King Cobra zu sehen. In den letzten 2,5 Jahren des Zweiten Weltkriegs setzte das Labor 15 verschiedene Flugzeuge ein. Dies steht in krassem Gegensatz zu den begrenzten, aber langlebigen Flugzeugen der modernen NASA-Flotte. Das Flight Research Building ist ein 272 mal 150 Fuß großer Hangar mit einer Innenhöhe von 40 Fuß an den Seiten bis 90 Fuß an der Spitze.
