Map of Europe, lantern slide - Public domain old map

An image today of a bygone age. An age when Europe was replete with Imperial Powers, when Europe dominated huge swathes of the globe with mixed effects. Shortly after this image was created it all came tumbling down...With thanks to all for the contributions today, most of the comments (below) focused less on how the lines on the map have changed, but perhaps how the names by which we know many places have changed over time.
