Historic Recreational Land Use at Montrose Park
Summary
Montrose Park. A view of the play area on March 15, 1944, showing a slide, basketball court, and shed building originally from Lincoln Park. Both as an estate and a public park, the property was devoted to both active and passive recreational pursuits. The Office of Public Buildings and Grounds added active recreational facilities to the landscape to support the under-served Georgetown community, while also incorporating the more passive pathways, gardens, and lawns.
