A View into the Historic Landscape of Montrose Park
Summary
Montrose Park. The Ropewalk, Osage orange trees, and the edge of the boxwood garden help to connect the features of the landscape and connect its identity as an estate with its use as a public park. The Ropewalk was built by Richard Parrott in the early nineteenth century. An Osage orange hedgerow grew on its east end, and an English boxwood allee was planted along the walkway. These were incorporated into the design when the public park was developed.
