Satire on the newly rich of the City of London; an assembly with two overdressed elderly women in the foreground and, beyond, citizens and their wives playing cards and conversing with inelegant gestures; to left, an awkward footman carries a tray with a stand holding small dishes of sweetmeats; to right, a man and woman help themselves at a table laid with joints of meat and tankards of beer; on the far wall are three framed pictures - a map, a portrait of the Lord Mayor of London, and a picture of the Valiant London 'Prentice. 1772
