This is not a lighthouse in "Stora Bält". This is the Eddystone lighthouse. Melbye made another version in 1846 - of similar size - which was sold to Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen in 1866.

In the catalogie or on the website there is no explanation of the origin of the name of this painting. Problem is, that it is clearly not a corvette - they have three masts - but a brig.
