A considerable number of physicians from all civilized countrieshave visited and reported on the work of the Finsen Light Instituteat Copenhagen. Dr. Stephen Mackensie in England noted as fol-lows: During the four years the treatment has been carried on theapparatus has undergone great development and improvement, withcorrespondingly increased results. I was greatly impressed with theequipment, organization, and management. The impression I formedof the light treatment of lupus was very favorable. In the curedcases the scars were supple and smooth, without contraction, and lessunsightly than by other methods of treatment. Where the lupusnodules were superficial, the results were uniformly good. Wherethe nodules were deeply situated, they were less satisfactory, owingto the difficulty to the penetration of the light, and the treatmenthad to extend over a greater length of
