Zion-Mount Carmel Highway, Springdale, Washington County, UT
Summary
Significance: This approximately 10-mile park section of a 25-mile road is of great scenic interest and retains structural integrity. The conception, design, and construction of this road was an artistic achievement.
The highway is an early representation of NPS and BPR national park road building, featuring scenic vistas, easy grades, minimal landscape marring in mountainous terrain, and rustic style amenities.
