Alfred S. Campbell's studio was renowned for its high-quality portraits, often taken using natural light and soft-focus techniques that gave his subjects a dreamy, ethereal quality. He was particularly adept at capturing the personalities and emotions of his sitters, and his portraits were sought after by politicians, celebrities and other prominent figures of the day.
