Verne Orr, was the 14th Secretary of the Air Force and was in office from Feb. 9, 1981 to Nov. 30, 1985. The Verne Orr award was established in honor of the former secretary by the Air Force Association to recognize a unit’s mission-oriented accomplishments and effective use of human resources.
