description

Summary

Significance: The U.S. Naval Base, Pearl Harbor was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1964, due to the crucial role it played in the Nation's defense during the twentieth century and the calamitous events which occurred on December 7, 1941. As Category 3 facilities, Structures S748, S749 and S750 were determined to be of minor importance to the historical character of the National Historic Landmark. Structures S748, S749 and S750 were bulk fuel storage tanks with fuel for ships berthed at Bravo and Mike piers. Located approximately 260 meters from Merry Loch, these structures escaped the attack and continued to provide fuel to warships throughout World War II.
