Andrew Richards, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), fire team leader and native of Lodi, Calif., digs a fighting hole as his company secures a road during an amphibious assault exercise at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., Dec. 14, 2013. The MEU recently completed the Composite Training Unit Exercise in preparation for its scheduled 2014 deployment to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group as a sea-based, expeditionary crisis response force capable of conducting amphibious missions across the full range of military operations.
