U.S. contracted instructor George Frick teaches the proper application of a metal detector to Marines with Headquarters Company, Regimental Combat Team 7, as part of counter improvised explosive device (IED) training at Camp Leatherneck, Helmand province, Afghanistan, Oct. 15, 2012. The counter IED training familiarized the Marines with fundamentals to include: unexploded ordnance recognition, enemy tactics, homemade explosives, threat detection, ground signs awareness, and downed vehicle procedures.
