U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew members conduct pre-flight procedures during a redeployment mission at Camp Bastion Airfield, Afghanistan, Sept. 12, 2012. The C-17, with its expansive airlift and transport capabilities, plays a major role in the redeployment operations of U.S. military forces during times of conflict. The U.S. military is drawing down forces in Afghanistan and are redeploying combat forces while transitioning security control to the Afghan National Security Forces. The ANSF and U.S. forces have worked closely and effectively to transition control of security in Afghanistan.
