description

Summary

U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Stephen Lane, of the 81st Expeditionary Rescue Squadron, communicates with other aircrew members aboard an HC-130P Combat King during a mission to drop three ocean sensors, known as Apex profiling floats, into the Gulf of Aden, Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Sept. 2, 2013. The floats collect data on subsurface currents, temperatures, acoustics, and salinity which provide underwater forecasts. These forecasts help any potential search and rescue efforts by CJTF-HOA forces. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Julianne M. Showalter/Released)
