United States Marines with Black Sea Rotational Force,
Summary
United States Marines with Black Sea Rotational Force, decanted off of one of the peaks of the Carpathian Mountain Ranges during Platinum Lynx, May 8, 2015. The hike consisted of a 40 kilometer alpine movement split between the two days. The Marines often found themselves moving through snow and gaining more than 300 meters of elevation approximately every hour. Platinum Lynx is a two-week exercise with the United Kingdom Royal Commandos, Romanian Mountain Brigade and the U.S. Marine Corps. This exercise allows all the nations to come together and practice their mountaineering ability while building lasting partnerships and friendships. (USMC photo by Cpl. Ashton C. Buckingham)
