Photo of Two Carved Martial Trophies - Public domain dedication
Summary
These martial trophies represent the weaponry of a cavalryman and an infantryman in the Dutch army. They adorned the sides of Ferdinand Bol’s painting Aeneas at the Court of Latinus, which hung above the hearth in the assembly room of the Admiralty of Amsterdam. The painting is also on display in this gallery. The Admiralty was responsible for the fleet.
