The bladder sphincter appeared to be relaxed, and it was thought that this might account for the incontin-ence, (Figs. 1 and 2.) Operation.—The sphincter was tightened by folding it uponitself and by taking a few stitches, but did not relieve thesymptoms. Ten months later the patient returned for anexamination, at which time her history was typical of ex-travesical ureter. She had incontinence and dribbling of urine, and in addition voided normally from three to five times daily. It was necessary for her to wear a pad constantly. Cystoscopic examination at this time showed a left ureteralmeatus situated just inside the bladder sphincter. On with-drawing the scope, a meatus was found in the right wall ofthe urethra 1.5 cm. outside the bladder sphincter. It had theappearance of a normal meatus.
