cation; one small branch, however, is but superficial, havingscarcely an appreciable depth. There is quite a good-sized branch givenoff in the first part of the latter third of its course, which extends upwardinto the ascending parietal convolution for a distance of 2 cm. It endsby bifurcating at right angles to its axis, thus forming a T-shaped fissure.The general direction is as in the right hemisphere. The fissure of Rolando, 8 cm. long, is not as tortuous as its fellow ofthe opposite side in the upper part of its course, but the lower part iswinding in direction and gives orT numerous short transverse branches.Its direction is as that in the right hemisphere, and it extends over themargin of the great longitudinal fissure, where it ends. It is not con-fluent below with the Sylvian fissure as was the case in one of the brainsdescribed by Dr. Dercum, but is separated from it by a very narrowstrip of convolution. The operculum on this side is about as large as that of the other side,
