The Sendai Airport was damaged by the 8.9 magnitude
Summary
The Sendai Airport was damaged by the 8.9 magnitude earthquake and resulting tsunami that rocked northeastern Japan, March 11. On March 16, airmen and aircraft from the 353rd Special Operations Group began assisting Japanese officials in opening Sendai Airport runways to support relief operations. Since then, millions of supplies have arrived at the airport as the central logistics hub for relief and recovery efforts. Now the airport waits for the official reopening for passengers.
