ections there with those in North Devon. There they found morecalcareous matter, but also chert-bands, and the succession seemedto show a gradual passage from the Old Red to the Lower CulmMeasures. They made a large collection of fossils from these rocksin Pembrokeshire, and they hoped ere long to bring the resultsbefore the Society. The paper by the Authors was, in Dr. Hickssopinion, a most important one in its bearing on the succession inNorth Devon. Mr. J. H. Collins congratulated the Authors on their veryimportant discoveries, and bad little doubt as to the justice of theirconclusions, although he had no very intimate knowledge of theCulm Measures, his own work having been mostly among the mucholder rocks of the centre and west of Cornwall. Sir Henet Howobth also spoke ; and Dr. G. J. Hlnde replied,thanking the Fellows for the reception accorded to his and Mr. Foxspaper.
