The examples on page 418 include specimens oftiles suitable for wall and floor decoration, as well as finer grades, designed forjardinieres, mantle ornamentation and such like purposes. One set of four tiles 420 THE INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION, 1876. is decorated with a pretty bit of painting after nature, representing a group ofwater-lilies and grasses and a brightly plumaged bird darting down upon thewater.
