BROWNSVILLE, Wash. (Aug. 28, 2008) The Lady Washington prepares to set sail giving chief petty officer selectees from the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) an opportunity to experience 18th century seamanship. The original Lady Washington was the first American vessel to visit Hawaii, Hong Kong and Japan. The first aircraft carrier commissioned into the United States Navy was USS Langley (CV-1) on 20 March 1922.
