The caretaker of the "Blackened Canteen" tradition, Dr. Hiroya Sugano, left, holds the World War II-era canteen recovered from a crash site in Japan of two American bombers, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Dec. 6, 2016. At the Blackened Canteen event at the USS Arizona Memoria, whiskey is poured into the hallowed waters, as an offering of peace.
