The ani-ani (hand held knife) is a tool usually used
Summary
The ani-ani (hand held knife) is a tool usually used for harvesting the Indonesian rice crop. A pilot project in mechanized rice growing is underway at Indonesia's Sukamandi Farm in West Java. The U.S. Agency for International Development provided a loan which financed the purchase of American made agricultural machinery for the project. The objective is to develop the 4600-hectare farm for future research and extension use, to produce foundation seed, and to gain some experience in mechanized rice growing. If successful, the techniques may be transferred to some of the outer islands where extensive land holdings are available but labor is lacking.
