30. Sphinx liicitiosa. Very rare in this vicinity. Double-brooded. The moth is on the wing in June and again in August. The caterpillar feeds on willow and poplar. Enters the ground to pupate.

Spliiiix s^onh'iis Rather common, but not abundant in this vicinity. Double- brooded, appearing in June and July and again in August. It ranges from Canada to Georgia and westward to the Mississiiijii, and probably farther westward. The caterpillar feeds on ajij^le, pear, ash and wax-myrtle (Myn'ca). Enters the ground to pupate.
