This joint is peculiar in its anatomy,in that its general direction extends frombehind, forward and outward, varying indegree of angle with the build and sex ofpatient. The anterior joint line, in general,is from above downward, parallel to thevertical axis of the bodw The line of articul-ation is usually curved outwards, the upperand lower points being approximatelyequidistant from the median line.
