STS068-20-036 - STS-068 - Adsorption device used in an evaluation of shuttle humidity and condensation

description

Summary

The original finding aid described this as:

Description: Adsorption device on the floor of the Space Shuttle Endeavour's middeck during STS-68. The device was used in a collection and evaluation of shuttle humidity condensate. The device serves to characterize the content of the shuttle's humidity condensate so as to determine the cause of mechanical difficulties with the humidity condensate separator, analyze the shuttle's humidity condensate after flight to determine its organic and ammonia content and assess the contaminant removal efficiency of the cabin heat exchanger, and to support development and realistic testing of the water recycling and monitoring systems for a space station.
