Staff Sgt. Benedict Barroga, 161st Logistics Readiness

description

Summary

Staff Sgt. Benedict Barroga, 161st Logistics Readiness Squadron fuels technician, adds a specific amount of water to fuel as part of a fuel quality control test, 161st Air Refueling Wing, Phoenix, Jan. 29, 2015. The mixture was then shaken to make a homogenous solution, with the water will attaching to the fuel additives, said Master Sgt. Romano Cedillos, 161 LRS fuels technician. Once the shaking was complete, the additives were pulled to the bottom of the fuel by the water. As water is heavier than fuel, it acts to separate the additives from the fuel. This test ensured the additives were still present in the solution and in the specified quantities. The fuel is tested when the base initially received it, as well as twice a month, to ensure that the fuel received here meets the highest standards required by the U.S. Air Force.
