Summary

Significance: The Smith Avenue High Bridge, a nineteenth century wrought iron Warren deck truss, is the longest and highest roadway truss bridge in Minnesota. It was designed by Keystone Bridge Co. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the leading bridge building firm of the era. It provided an important link in the development of the heights area of St. Paul's west side.
