Silver Scimitar 2012, the only human resources exercise
Summary
Silver Scimitar 2012, the only human resources exercise of its kind in the U.S., kicked off on Jan. 21. The two-week, multi-component, multi-echelon exercise covers a range of critical support services to soldiers on the battlefield, to include postal, personnel, and casualty operations. Capt. Chad Vaughn (center), an instructor from the Soldier Support Institute, Fort Jackson, S.C., teaches human resources soldiers, Jan. 22, the process for reporting casualties at all echelons. Using a “sand table” method to illustrate the steps in the process, Vaughn brought his battlefield experience to the instruction. Subject matter experts from across the services train soldiers at Silver Scimitar, which culminates in a large-scale, hands-on training event that tests all functions of human resources operations in a deployed environment.
