Summary

This is a photograph of a Hexactinellid sponge in the Genus Sclerothamnus, photographed by NOAA's Deep Discoverer ROV at a depth of 1,000-3,000 meters below sea level near Johnston Atoll in the Pacific Ocean. This exedition, (EX1706), took place in July 2017, and is searchable as "Laulima O Ka Moana: Exploring Deep Monument Waters Around Johnston Atoll".
